A Creative Placemaking Project
Re-Imagining Coal Avenue As a Commons
For everyone
About The Project

The City of Gallup, in partnership with gallupARTS, received a $150,000 Our Town grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), matched by $150,000 in contributions from local government, institutions and organizations, to re-imagine two blocks of Coal Avenue in the heart of downtown Gallup as an "event street."
“A Coal Avenue event street has tremendous potential to stimulate redevelopment and revitalization, transform our downtown into a community-oriented arts and cultural hub, and energize our creative economy,” says Rose Eason, Executive Director of gallupARTS. “gallupARTS could not be more enthusiastic about partnering with the City and community to create a new vision for downtown.”
Go, Gallup!
The NEA cheers on Gallup's Creative Placemaking project!
